Telephone conference calling is used every day in businesses around the world. But did you know that it is also quite popular for personal use from home?
At work, you may have used teleconferences to attend meetings with clients or other locations of the company you

work for. These conference call meetings are typically a very regular occurrence for retail store managers.
Typically, a retail store is part of a large chain and each store is a part of a region or district that includes several other stores. It would not be convenient for all of the store managers to convene once a week to one location, nor would it be cost effective. Instead the district or regional manager conducts the weekly meetings using teleconference calls with all of the managers listening in and able to give their input.
Telephone conference calling is a little different because at home you can only call with two other parties at once, but this type of call is still referred to as a conference call.
At home conference calling is a feature that you can opt for with your telephone service. Usually it's called three-way calling, but a few phone services offer actual teleconference features where you can talk with more than three people on the line.
This feature is very popular among teenage girls who have an incessant need to talk on the telephone to all of their friends at one time. Without the telephone conference calling feature, you can easily picture a teenage girl using call waiting with the home phone going back and forth between two friends and using the call waiting on her cell phone on the other ear in the same manner. This can be costly when you pay for your cell minutes.
Conference calls are also a popular feature for work at home parents or people who telecommute. More and more people are telecommuting or deciding to work from home these days and they need a way to have meetings with their home offices or talk to clients via conference calling. This could be why more and more phone service providers are offering true teleconferences as an option these days.
Some of the work from home opportunities, such as product distributorship opportunities, places you in groups with others who were brought into the business by the same manager. These managers can benefit from these types of calls, too, by offering their downline promotions and giving pep talks to their entire group at one time. Eventually each one of the distributors will begin to recruit and have their own downlines and it is convenient to already have the conference calling option on their phones.
Telephone conference calling is the new way to conduct meetings. It is also considered the green way to conduct meetings. Communicating via the telephone uses much less resources than driving cars to get to meetings, or even using a computer for video conferencing.
